Owned by Albany County, Shaker Place has recently undergone an $80 million renovation project. Spanning 2017-2020, this celebrated modernization project boasts an additional 77,000 square feet, featuring new facilities including an expansion of the common areas, private rooms accessible on the ground floor, and energy efficient equipment and lighting. The renovation has also allowed us to make everyday life for our residents even more comfortable and convenient, with state-of-the-art features like: eight culinary country kitchens and adjacent dining rooms available in each residential wing; a serene courtyard and garden with sound-system and walking paths; a rehabilitation gymnasium and fitness center with the latest equipment; spa rooms with private showers and therapy tubs; and a 24-hour security system. Recognized for our commitment to improving services and providing the very best in care for our residents, in October 2018 Shaker Place received the 2018 Bronze National Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). Shaker Place was one of only four recipients throughout the State of New York. And most recently, Shaker Place is proud to announce that in August of 2020, we achieved the 2020 Silver National Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living.
The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program is a progressive, three-step process that encourages the continuous learning, development, and execution of integrated quality systems to achieve performance excellence. Each progressive step requires a more detailed and comprehensive demonstration of quality integration and performance. The criteria for each step is based on the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program.
Silver—Achievement in Quality Award recipients provide an extensive assessment of their systematic approaches, performance measures, and sustainable organizational and process results that are linked to the key customer requirements, success factors, and challenges previously identified through the achievement of earning the Bronze—Commitment to Quality Award.
