Commitment To Safety
Our renewed commitment to safety can been witnessed throughout the recently completed $80 million renovation project. The project added an additional 77,000 square feet including additional common areas and additional private rooms. We now have 22 different living rooms and common areas allowing residents to gather while remaining socially distant from other residents due to the COVID 19 pandemic. In addition to the many socially distant common areas are the spacious resident rooms. All resident rooms were designed with space and privacy in mind. Even our bi-axel rooms allow separation for maximum comfort, privacy and safety and include Jack and Jill sinks to ensure distance.
Families of residents suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia can be assured of their loved one’s safety in Shaker Place’s 24-hour supervised memory care wing. The secured memory care wing also includes a dedicated dining area and secure, enclosed courtyard which allows for maximum independence while remaining safe.
The safety of our residents is our top priority, and this can be seen in all the safety procedures and protocols all throughout Shaker Place. In regards to Coronavirus protocols, we follow strict guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). An interdisciplinary team at our facility meets regularly and as needed to evolve our planning efforts and ensure that all staff and resources are in place, ready to protect and care for our residents.
Commitment To Innovation
At Shaker Place, our recent renovation allowed for state-of-the-art equipment and advanced technologies to be available for our residents. Our rehabilitation department specializes in individualized physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapies. Our staff is trained in the most innovative and advanced techniques which allow us to focus on goal-oriented therapies and create a comprehensive program to help residents recover from injury or illness, restore function, and regain their independence. In addition to our state-of-the-art physical and occupational therapies, you will find many specialized staff not found at other nursing homes, including a full-time speech and respiratory therapist, dedicated wound care nurse, infection control nurse, staff education team and medical director to ensure that we are providing our residents with the best possible care.
With COVID restrictions on visitation, we understand it is incredibly hard being away from loved ones. With the advancements in technology, we are proud to provide iPads and free wifi to every resident so you can say ‘Hello’ as often as you’d like. We can also arrange virtual meetings and tours for perspective residents. This resource allows us to stay in touch and connect with those looking to tour Shaker Place for a future need.
