Shaker Place Rehabilitation & Nursing Center recently achieved their third perfect Focused Infection Control COVID-19 Survey determining that their facility is in substantial compliance with all Federal and State requirements. These requirements are related to maintaining an infection prevention and control program to prevent the development and transmission of COVID-19 among their staff and residents.
The survey, conducted on behalf of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, is a tool that provides a focused review of a nursing facility’s adherence to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance in order to control infection and prevent disease at the facility. The Focused Infection Control COVID-19 Survey is conducted at random to ensure continued compliance with all rules and regulations.
Shaker Place is assessed on multiple levels of compliance, including proper signage of visitation restrictions and screening procedures, as well as mask and social distancing guidelines at all entryways. The survey evaluates Standard and Transmission-Based Precautions, which include having the proper amount of personal protection equipment (PPE) on hand, as well as staff and resident education, on hand hygiene, coughing and sneezing etiquette, cleaning and sanitization procedures of the facility and medical equipment, and proper discarding of medical waste and PPE.
“We are immensely proud of our staff for adhering to the strict policies and procedures set by both State and Federal guidelines. The safety of our residents is our primary focus, and we understand the importance of the Focused Infection Control COVID-19 Survey in that process. With the recent completion of our renovations, we are able to offer residents additional space that allows for greater social distancing as well as private and semi-private rooms. “said Larry Slatky, Executive Director of Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
