This employee performs a unique blend of direct patient care and essential clerical support. This role requires a compassionate, organized and detail oriented individual who can balance traditional nursing assistant responsibilities with administrative tasks. The work includes assisting with maintaining smooth operations by managing scheduling, coordinating patient transportation, handling lab orders, scheduling X-rays, answering phones and filing documentation. The work is performed under the supervision of the Nurse Manager. Does related work as required.
Responsibilities/Typical Work Activities:
- Provides daily care to residents, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding and mobility;
- Monitors residents’ vital signs and reports any changes to the nursing staff;
- Ensures resident comfort and safety, promoting a clean and welcoming environment;
- Assists with transferring residents, positioning and mobility within the facility;
- Schedules appointments and coordinates transportation for residents to external medical providers;
- Manages lab orders, ensuring timely submission and follow-up with laboratories as necessary;
- Schedules X-ray and other diagnostic imaging as directed by the clinical team;
- Answers phone calls and handles inquiries, directing them to appropriate staff as needed;
- Maintains and organizes resident files, ensuring all records are updated and accessible;
- Supports the nursing staff by managing clerical tasks that enhance unit organization and efficiency.
Full Performance, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:
- Thorough communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Thorough attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and scheduling;
- Working knowledge and experience with computers;
- Ability to learn specific software programs that are used for scheduling, word processing and other clerical tasks as appropriate;
- Ability to manage both caregiving and clerical duties in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism;
- Ability to demonstrate organization and flexibility in performing daily tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
One (1) year of experience working as a certified nurse aide (CNA).
